Heather flowers in late summer, bracken takes on russet hues in autumn and yet here at Hawk Coombe Head we have both doing their thing in the same image. No digital trickery here, just the result of a poor summer causing the heather to flower later and the bracken to turn earlier.

Below you can see the trees clad slopes above Shillett Coombe glowing in the early morning sun whilst the hillside beyond remains in shadow. This was the only occasion I have seen it like this.
