The Bossons Glacier at sunset. We walked to its toe from Chamonix town center and it took just over an hour to get there, with photo stops. The viewpoint is at an altitude of 1375m which is around the height of Ben Nevis the highest mountain in the British Isles !
The glacier moves at about 1m per day and apparently can be heard to creak and groan with pieces occasionally breaking off. We sat and ate a picnic lunch there but saw or heard nothing during our stay.
