If you are careful, a daytime shot can look like it was taken by moonlight. In the days of film cameras this was achieved by adding a blue filter and under exposing. In these days of digital just shoot normally and adjust the settings to taste in post processing. It's not cheating, just a different way of doing what we used to do in the days of film.
