Late summer on Exmoor sees the various species of heather and ling come into flower. In the Heddon Valley a bit of searching was required to find this clump that added a splash of foreground colour to the view of the river Heddon making it's way to the sea. As this is a low growing plant I had to lie on the ground to give it more prominence and ended up with muddy knees, which is actually quite a common occurrence for me !
