The peaks and troughs of the ridge and furrow in this medieval field near Ford are made all the more prominent by the buttercups which grow more thickly on the ridges. Evening light helps to enhance the effect too. I passed by this field quite regularly and noticed that these are the only conditions that made the ridge and furrow stand out well enough to show up nicely in a photographic image.
