I took this image because I liked the way the sunlit tree stood out against the shadowy hillside behind it. And I assumed it would be a reasonably unique image, as far as it can be in the Lake District. But I was wrong. Very wrong.
Over the years I have accumulated many cuttings of images that appealed to me from photo magasines and these are kept in about seven or eight scrapbooks. Browsing through these one day I discovered not one but three images pretty much identical to mine ! Viewpoint, lighting, time of year, composition etc. I was taken aback.
Sadly there are so many people photographing the Lake District that achieving an original image is becoming increasingly difficult.
