Like Bassenthwaite, Ennerdale is much less frequented than many of the other lakes, maybe due to it's remoteness. It's a long drive if you're staying at Windermere, Keswick or Coniston.
Nevertheless it has some impressive scenery surrounding it and is in the lee of some of the Lake Districts highest mountains.
