Porlock Bay is characterized by it's natural shingle ridge that runs in a sweeping curve from the rocky promontory of Hurlestone Point to the small port of Porlock Weir, hidden from view to the left in this image
On the landward side of the ridge is Porlock Marsh which marks the start of the valley known as Porlock Vale.
The hill rising from Hurlestone Point is Bossingtington Hill, the summit of which is out of view to the right, and on the far horizon across the Bristol Channel right at the top of the image the coast of south Wales can just be made out
The play of light and shade can be seen on the marshland as clouds race across the sky, lighting and dimming the landscape as they go.
