Arguably the most beautiful corner of the British Isles, the Lake district is a photographer's paradise. The opportunities for image making seem almost limitless, and you don't even have to venture very far from your car to secure stunning results, as the image on this page demonstrates - my car was just out of shot on the left ! And if you are prepared to lug your camera gear up into the mountains you will extend the scope considerably.
However, there are two major obstacles that might hamper your results. The frequent inclement weather that this area is renowned for - it takes a lot of rain to keep those lakes topped up - and tourists who flock here like lemmings. In summer this road would be full of cars and people, but if you can work around these shortcomings the world, or in this case the Lake District, is your oyster. In case you are wondering, this image was taken shortly after sunrise in December.
